Why am I doing this?
There is a lot of room for creativity when it comes to gardening.
I just recently came across some ideas on self-watering container gardening. This appeals to me. I have grown food in containers before, with varying degrees of success. The hard part is keeping the containers watered during the heat of the summer. This is especially true for tomatoes. It wasn’t just hard to do; it was impossible to do. To keep them watered sufficiently, I would need to water them every 2 hours or so.
For some reason, even though I saw the problem, I didn’t sit down and come up with a solution on my own. I could have done it, but I didn’t.
This year, I started getting my yearly dose of Garden Fever and I started looking for ideas. I am going to put those ideas into effect and I will document the progress.
I believe in improvising, adapting, and overcoming. I only buy what I can’t improvise or can’t get for free somewhere. I take ideas and distill them to the bare minimum, with the only important thing is if it works. I keep the costs down so the system quickly pays for itself.
